Day School Information

Christ Church Day School Christ Church Day School is a private nursery school on Manhattan's upper east side which was founded by Christ Church United Methodist in 1949. It is one of the oldest early childhood programs in New York City. The school is non-sectarian and is attractive to families who are interested in the school's developmental approach to education. Teachers are committed to structuring their classrooms in such a way that those special qualities within all children may flourish in a supportive social-emotional context.
Facility	Located on the 6th floor of Christ Church United Methodist, the school has 5 light-filled, spacious classrooms and an extraordinary state of the art playroof. An indoor playspace is used for movement and music classes

Faculty	Dynamic, small professional community of seventeen dedicated early childhood teachers. Head teachers all have masters degrees; associates are working toward degrees in early childhood. Resumes from qualified teachers are welcome all year.
Parents	Primarily from New York City's Upper East and West Sides. Mix of family backgrounds and very involved in the school.

	Three Year Olds	(M-F 9-11:45) 2 optional extended days until 2:30
	Four Year Olds	(M-F 9-11:45) 3 optional extended days until 2:45
	Five Year Olds	(M and F 9-12/T-Th 9-2:45)
Application Process	On the first Monday in October through the Friday of that same week, a lottery application will be 'live' on our web page. Please complete the form and press 'submit'. An e-mail will confirm our receipt of your application. By the end of October we will notify you whether or not you have been chosen in our application lottery (which is based on our number of openings as well as the age and gender of your child.) If you are chosen, we will ask you to complete a regular application and attend a family interview in January or February. Please note that while Christ Church Day School does have openings for the 2009-10 school year, we have a very large number of sibling applicants who will receive preferential treatment. We encourage new applicants to apply widely to other New York early childhood programs in order to enhance the possibility of placement.
