Adult Education
Our busy lives often make it difficult to create free time and space for maintaining our relationship with God. When that happens we find ourselves running on empty, trying to steady our own course against life's challenges.

A variety of classes and educational opportunities have been scheduled to enhance your spiritual journey and help you experience God's presence and guidance. Additional offerings will be added throughout the year. Why not create space where the life of God in you can be nurtured and brought to fruition and take advantage of these opportunities? For more information, please contact the Reverend Javier Viera.
Sunday Adult Forum
A weekly gathering at 9:45 a.m. explores a wide variety of topics related to matter of life and faith. All are welcome to attend the lively conversations of this gathering.
Current Offering:
Being a Pilgrim in the Holy Land - Joyce Palevitz offers her reflections on the places and people she encountered on a 6-week pilgrimage in the Holy Land. The words “holy”, “land”, “boundaries”, “water”, “desert”, and even “pilgrim” take on whole new meanings when seen through the multiple prisms of scripture, place, people and politics. Each week, we will visit (virtually) a different place in the land and experience it through reflection, visuals, readings and discussion. This class will take place on May 13th, 20th, June 3rd & 10th.
Spiritual Pilgrimages and Retreats
Throughout the year, Christ Church members can choose to intentionally slow the pace of their lives and set aside a period for spiritual nurture and exploration through pilgrimages to sacred sites throughout the world and retreats to nearby monasteries or retreat centers.
Ongoing Programs:
Disciple Bible Study
Tuesdays, 6.30 p.m., Beginning October 4th
Leaders: The Rev. Javier Viera
Cost: $35 for course materials
This introduction and survey of the Old and New Testaments meets each Tuesday from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participants will read nearly all of the bible, divided into daily readings spanning from Genesis to Revelation. The history of how the bible came to be, the different types of literature contained in its pages, and the varied ways it has been interpreted over the centuries will be explored in depth. What makes this course unique, however, is that each week group discussion focuses on application and on how sacred scripture informs and shapes our daily lives. Conversation is dynamic, honest, and all questions are welcomed and encouraged. Over the 30+ weeks of study authentic Christian community forms among participants, and many find that the relationships which began during this study far outlast the course. To register, please sign up at the Connections Center following worship services, or contact Lori Wiesner, our Connections Coordinator.
Wednesday Morning Prayer
A small group gathers in the chapel each Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. to offer prayers for our church, community, nation and world. These intimate settings have proven to be essential for strengthening the lives of many, including those who meet and share in this ministry. Some participants choose to pray openly while others sit silently embracing the presence of God. All are welcome to join us. If you have prayer needs or concerns, you may fill out a prayer card and leave it in the church office.
Explore the Art and Architecture of Christ Church
Tours of the sanctuary are offered the second Sunday of each month, following the 11:00 a.m. worship service. "Christ Church is an achievement of living faith. Those who worship here find a sanctuary of beauty, a spiritual home, a place of fellowship and a center of Christian education." It is for this reason that you are invited to tour our sacred space. We are often asked about the uniqueness of the space, the mosaics and icons, and the symbolism. By touring the space, you will gain a deeper understanding of its history, its art and architecture, the theology it expresses, and how it can become a space of spiritual pilgrimage and devotion. The tour begins in the pews just in front of the pulpit. You may also call the church office to inquire about the possibility of group tours at other times.
